Please review the Move-in schedule at http://housing.ucsc.edu/move-in/.

Each college/community will have designated unloading and parking areas. Please follow the instructions from your college/community for directions on where to unload. Do not block access to roadways or park in ADA/Medical or other specifically marked spaces. Unattended vehicles in fire lanes will be cited or towed.

Thursday, September 18–Sunday, September 21 from 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.

Once you arrive on campus at your scheduled check-in time, please make your way to the area designated for your college/community to check in. For check-in location details, please refer to our Move-In schedule page

Monday, September 22–Tuesday, September 23, 2025

Students moving in from 9 am- 4 pm on Monday, September 22- Tuesday, September 23 must check in at the college/community housing office of residence. Staging locations will not be utilized for continuing students.

Due to extremely limited parking, students and their guests are limited to 1 vehicle per resident. Large vehicles (> 19’1”x 6’3″ x 6’1″), RVs, cargo, or utility trailers are not permitted.

Unloading: When you arrive to move in, a 15-minute unloading pass will be available. This temporary pass allows you to unload your vehicle in designated move-in lots or spaces. We understand this is a short amount of time; however, it is needed to keep move-in running smoothly for all students. After unloading, you are welcome to park at one of the alternative lots below and return to unpack your belongings.

If you plan to remain on campus after you move in, it is recommended that you have an active ParkMobile account prior to your arrival to better facilitate your parking needs. PLEASE NOTE: There is a $0.45/transaction fee for ParkMobile. We strongly encourage the use of Campus Transit Shuttles and METRO buses, which are fare-free on UCSC routes 11, 18, 19, and 20 from September 18 – September 21, 2025.

Campus Transit shuttles will operate in clockwise and counterclockwise directions during Move-in, and they are available fare-free to students and their guests.

Four (4) METRO bus routes operate on campus in both clockwise and counterclockwise directions. UCSC students can ride METRO fare-free countywide by displaying their student ID with a current validator sticker. Temporary bus passes are available for those students who have not yet received a student ID; please see your college/community housing office for more details on obtaining a temporary bus pass.

Parking options are extremely limited. We strongly discourage campus residents from bringing a vehicle to campus during the academic year, and residential 1st- and 2nd-year students are prohibited from purchasing permits. TAPS provides many options for getting around without the hassle of a car and the cost of parking permits.

Students with access or functional needs that qualify for a ADA-related or medical parking accommodation may contact the Disability Resource Center to determine their eligibility.

If you have questions about parking permit eligibility, email the TAPS Sales Office or call (831) 459-4543 during business hours (Mon-Fri 7:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.).

Please be aware that transportation, parking, and traffic patterns will be impacted during the Move-In period from Thursday, September 18 – Tuesday, September 23, 2025.

We urge those not moving into campus housing to utilize commuting alternatives on weekdays and to avoid campus during the weekend.

Santa Cruz METRO buses will be free on UCSC Routes 11, 18, 19, and 20 for all riders from Thursday, September 18, to Sunday, September 21. Campus Transit shuttles will operate in clockwise directions during move-in. For those who bike to campus, check out our upcoming bike programs at SlugBikeLife.org.

Please note that R permit holders may park in the adjacent Overflow Lot 5 of East Remote during Move-In operations (see map).

Please check the map links below for information on parking impacts, including which close-in (i.e., “A”) parking lots will be designated as “Move-In Only” during Move-In 2025.
