Commuter Benefits Program
UCSC employees at University Extension, Silicon Valley Center, and Cal-SOAP program staff are eligible to participate in the Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD) commuter transit and parking benefits program. This program is the result of a BAAQMD requirement that large employers within its air district provide commuter benefits as a way to save money and encourage the use of sustainable transportation modes such as public transit. All employees with a fixed appointment (or cumulative total) of 25% or more per month are eligible to participate in this program.
UCSC participates in Option 4 of the program and has the following offerings for eligible employees:
- UCSC offers tele-work agreements for those who have approval from their supervisor.
- Secure, on-site bicycle parking at the Silicon Valley Campus
- Guaranteed Emergency Ride Home Program
- Graduate Students working at the Silicon Valley Campus may use the Silicon Valley Connector shuttle.
- Employees or graduate students who work at the Silicon Valley Campus but live in Santa Cruz County may earn rewards through GO Santa Cruz County for making sustainable commutes.
